Michelle Duraan

In 2007, Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Cape Town, whereafter she obtained an Honours degree (cum laude) in Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch in 2008.

After obtaining her degrees, she completed an internship in Career Counselling at the Directorate for Counselling, Career and Academic Development at the University of South Africa in Pretoria in 2009. In October of 2009, she wrote and passed the Health Professions Council of South Africa’s psychology board examinations for Registered Counsellors in Independent Practice.

Michelle has been in full-time private practice since 2014, and she makes a point thereof to always keep up to date with the latest industry standards through attending Continuous Professional Development seminars, lectures and workshops, in so doing providing her clients with the best quality career counselling available. She has long-standing relationships with representatives from various tertiary institutions, ensuring she remains up-to-date with the latest university and college entrance requirements and available programmes.

During her time in private practice, she has helped thousands of school learners and young adults make informed decisions regarding their subject choices and future careers.

Michelle

Michelle has a passion for working with high schools, where she assists students with their subject and career choices. From January 2010 to June 2014, she provided personal career counselling to high school students while working part-time at a highly regarded Western Cape IEB high school. She has also hosted numerous study skills workshops, and to this day she still delivers presentations at schools’ subject choice/career evenings and expos.

As of July 2014, Michelle has been in full-time private practice. She now consults with clients for psychometric assessments and career counselling.

Michelle’s passion lies in helping teenagers and young adults get to know themselves better, while at the same time helping them recognise the unique contribution they are able to make to the world through informed career decisions.

On a personal level, Michelle is a dog-obsessed bookworm and winter-loving introvert. She is a mom to three beautiful boys who keep her very busy. When she’s not at work or driving them around, she can be found at her favourite CrossFit box, trying to maintain some work-life balance by focussing on her own health and fitness journey.
